Conclusion:
North Carolina has done an excellent job of preserving the Wright Brothers legacy. Orville and Wilbur Wright’s world changing invention made our world what it is today. It is hard to image what it would be like without the invention of powered flight. Because of their ambition we are open to more opportunities all over the world. No one knows what the future will hold, but if two men in 1903 could make men fly, the possibilities are endless going forward.
Orville and Wilbur Wright were two inseparable brothers, inventors, and aviation pioneers who had a dream to fly. The Brothers never gave up and always persevered to obtain success. The Wright Brothers contributed to North Carolina History on December 17, 1903 when they finally succeeded in reaching their dream of achieving powered, heavier-than-air human flight. North Carolina has worked to memorialize their legacy in their National Memorial in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina and by proudly displaying “first in flight” on each of their state license plates. Because of Orville and Wilbur’s success North Carolina will forever be known as the state “first in flight.”
